We’re proud to announce the launch of the Second Half Trust Club Partner Programme — a new initiative designed to bring sporting clubs together in a shared commitment to wellbeing, identity, and life beyond the game.
Sport is about more than what happens on the pitch.
It’s about friendship, belonging, identity, confidence and purpose. It shapes who we are, how we connect with others, and how we see ourselves. And when that sporting chapter changes or comes to an end — whether through retirement, injury, selection changes, or life circumstances — nobody should feel like they have been left behind or forgotten.
The transition away from sport can be one of the most challenging periods in a person’s life. That’s why the Second Half Trust exists: to support people through that shift, helping them talk openly, rebuild confidence, and rediscover purpose beyond their playing days.
Our Club Partners will play a vital role in this mission. Together, we are building a growing network of sporting organisations that recognise the importance of mental wellbeing and understand that supporting players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters doesn’t stop when the final whistle blows.
Through the Club Partner Programme, we aim to:
- Encourage open conversations around mental health in sport
- Provide guidance and signposting for those struggling with transition
- Support clubs in creating safe, inclusive environments
- Strengthen community connections beyond the game
- Promote the message that every sporting journey has a “second half”
We’re delighted that Lawrence Weston Athletic and Heritage United are already on board as our first Club Partners. Their commitment marks the beginning of something special — clubs stepping forward to say that people matter just as much as performance.
Now we want more clubs to join us.
Football clubs. Rugby clubs. Cricket clubs. Athletics clubs. Boxing clubs. Any sporting club that believes in supporting the people behind the sport, not just the results on the scoreboard.
Whether you’re a grassroots team or a long-established club, your voice and your community can make a real difference. By becoming a Club Partner, you’ll be helping to break down stigma, open up conversations, and ensure that no one feels isolated when their sporting role changes.
This is about more than partnership. It’s about people. Together, we can build something powerful — a culture in sport where wellbeing is prioritised, conversations are normalised, and support is always within reach.
Talk. Trust. Heal.
Whatever your sport, there is a Second Half.
