Beyond the ordinary

At The Second Half Trust, our mission is to ensure that no athlete faces the transition out of competitive sport alone. The end of a playing career shouldn't mean the end of a purpose-driven life. We aim to bridge the gap between the final whistle and the next chapter by focusing on three clear objectives:

1. Prioritise Men’s Mental Wellness

The sudden loss of routine, identity, and the dressing room environment can take a heavy toll on mental health. We aim to normalise conversations around mental wellness for former players, breaking the stigma and providing safe, confidential spaces where men can speak openly about the challenges of retirement.

2. Foster Lifelong Connections

The camaraderie of a sports team is incredibly hard to replicate in everyday life. We aim to rebuild that vital sense of belonging by bringing former athletes together. By connecting with friends who truly understand the unique highs and lows of a sporting career, our community ensures that the team spirit lives on long after the boots are hung up.

3. Redefine Identity and Purpose

For most of our lives, we are defined by what we do on the pitch. When that stops, it’s easy to feel lost. We aim to help former athletes rediscover who they are outside of sport, guiding them to channel their natural resilience, dedication, and leadership into new, fulfilling life paths and careers

"The first half of your life was defined by the game. We are here to make sure the second half is defined by your growth, your strength, and your community."
